We spent a few days in the Upper Peninsula of Michagin for the annual Thompson family vacation. This was the first time Cale was able to go, so we were all pretty excited to bring him along. He loved finding new discoveries and exploring everything. I just threw this pic of me and Jason in here as well...I think this is the first picture we've actually taken since Cale was born! As always, Cale has found a new passion....wateremelon, watermelon, watermelon! He loves this stuff! He'd eat it all day, everyday if we let him! This white shirt was practically pink by the time Cale was done with his little treat...the bib did nothing!

Cale playing peek-a-boo with Grandma Thompson

Here, Cale is getting a lesson from Great Grandpa Thompson on how the "fish TV" works. Cale was getting too confused when we kept saying "great grandpa"--- he's thinking "How come I have so many grandpas" So we officially decided to call great grandpa "Chief", which has been his nickname in the Thompson family forever ( I believe courtesy of Jason's dad!)

Cale and mommy shooting the breeze. The best I could do for a picture with Cale--he just didn't want to look at the camera.

Grandmp Thompson bought Cale his very own tom-tom on our trip to Eagle River, Wisconsin. It had feathers on when we bought it, and by the time we got back to the cabins (only about a 30 min drive) Cale had ripped off all the pretty feathers. As you can see, he doesn't quite understand the concept of it yet either...he would rather use it as a hammer and smash all the rocks instead of drum it. But hey, whatever works!

One of Cale's new explorations on our vacation was the little minnows in the minnow bucket. I braved the storm and snatched up a minnow so Cale could see and touch it. He really liked them and actually tried petting it a few times...but shortly after this picture was taken, the minnow took a nose dive and we lost him....so we had to move on to the next discovery!

After our fun 4th of July weekend, we headed off to the Minnesota Zoo once again. We finally managed to peel Cale away from the chicken coop, only to have him fall in love with the salmon! Forget the really cool grizzly bears! He also made a friend while having his face plastered against the side of the pool. They spent a good 10 minutes pointing out the fish to each other as they continued to swim on by! Cale looks real interested, doesn't he? I think he's infatuated with the little girl, actually. Come to think of it, Cale has a lot of girl friends! We've got a little ladie's man on our hands!!!!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!!!!!!!
We spent the 4th of July with Grandma and Grandpa Thompson. Cale was really enjoyed the parade in Chanhassen. He loved the motorcycles and fire trucks and watching all the people. But what he really loved the most were the two dogs sleeping under a lawn chair in front of us just trying to stay cool. He wouldn't stop pointing at the puppies---every few minutes he thought he was pointing out something new to us, so of course we have to play along like we had no idea where those puppies came from! Cale loves making discoveries like that!
So here is one shot where we caught Cale actually watching the parade!Cale and grandpa taking a break for a quick pic
My little guy is getting so big, or at least he thinks he is....he only lasted sitting like this for about 30 seconds before he started to topple over the edge...thank god for grandpa's quick hands or Cale would have landed on his face!

Well, Cale sure has been keeping us busy this summer! Doesn't slow down for a minute! Here are a few of his favorite summer activities so far...

...Playing on his little swingset (although he hasn't quite mastered climbing the slide the right way--he prefers walking UP the slide over actually sliding down the thing)

...Drinking water from the hose (who doesn't like that?!?)
...Creating works of art on daddy's garage floor and driveway...(and for all of you who know Jason, the chalk MUST be washable!)

...Acting like a goofball.....
...And last, but certainly not least, eating his corn on the cob!!!!

In honor of the zoo, Cale had to sport his tiger shirt to our very first trip to the zoo--I think this was a couple months ago by now. He needed to stop and take a break from all the waving at the animals he did---and while sitting, he had to show us his new crocs too! So, Cale's favorite animal at the zoo is not the bears, or the tigers, or the buffalo, or even the cool camels....No. His favorite animal (if you can even call them that) is the chicken!!!!!!!!! We could not get him to leave that dang chicken coop for anything!
Yes Cale, the chickens are still there..............

Cale has also recently discovered his love of cinnamon and brown sugar oatmeal.... Notice how he licks his bowl clean!!!!!!!!!!! He's always been a great eater!

Ever since Cale found out he had teeth, he's been showing them off as much as possible! Jason and I have also learned how very very sharp they are! Too bad the little girls at daycare had to find that out too! We have a little monster on our hands!
